WHAT WE BUILD
     Custom Railings for Every Application
If It Involves Metal, We Can Build It.

Custom fabrication does not always fit a category. Sometimes you need a part that does not exist, a piece that has never been made, or a solution that nobody else has been able to figure out. That is exactly the kind of work we do best. No minimum. No project too unusual. Just bring us the problem.

THE JOBS NOBODY ELSE WILL TAKE

Most fabrication shops have a list of things they do. Gates. Railings. Structural steel. Standard stuff. And when a customer walks in with something that does not fit the list, they get turned away.

We do not have that problem.

Custom Projects at Metal Head Fabrication LLC is the service for everything that does not fit neatly into another category. The tractor part that broke and is no longer manufactured. The trailer that needs a complete overhaul to fit a specific lifestyle. The piece of furniture that exists only in your head. The automotive bracket that needs to be fabricated because nothing off the shelf comes close. The sculptural art piece that needs to be built by someone who actually understands metal.

If it involves metal and you need it built, we want to hear about it.

We work from whatever starting point you have — professional drawings, rough sketches, a broken part you need reverse engineered, or a description of a problem you need solved. We ask the right questions, fill in the gaps, and get to work. And along the way, if we see an opportunity to make it better, stronger, or more useful than what you originally had in mind, we say so. Not to run up the bill — because that is just how we work.

As a veteran-owned business, we bring a problem-solving mindset to every custom project we take on. In the military you learn quickly that the right solution is rarely the obvious one. That same thinking goes into every unusual, one-of-a-kind build we do.

FROM THE SHOP
Two Examples of What Custom Really Means

PROJECT ONE

  •    The Overland Trailer Conversion A customer came to us with a small tractor trailer and a vision — a fully built overland camping trailer capable of handling off-road terrain and supporting extended family camping trips. He had basic dimensions in mind and a clear sense of what he wanted the finished trailer to feel like. We took it from there.

  •    We stripped and assessed the existing trailer, designed the build around his requirements, and fabricated the full conversion from scratch — structural reinforcements, custom framework, mounting points, storage solutions, and additional features we suggested along the way that he approved and added to the scope. The result was a one-of-a-kind overland trailer built specifically around how his family uses the outdoors. Nothing like it exists in a catalog.

PROJECT TWO

  • The Tractor Jackhammer Attachment Part A customer came in with a broken agricultural component — a part for a jackhammer attachment on a tractor that was no longer being manufactured. Without the part, the equipment was dead. With no drawings and no manufacturer to call, we reverse engineered it from the broken original, identified why it had failed, and fabricated a replacement built to perform better than the piece it replaced.

WHAT WE BUILD
Prototype Fabrication for Every Stage and Every Need
  1. Vehicle & Automotive Parts

    •    Custom brackets, mounts, exhaust components, skid plates, roll bars, suspension parts, and specialty fabrications for street vehicles, trucks, and daily drivers. If the part does not exist or the off-the-shelf option does not fit, we build it to your exact specifications.

  2. Race Car & Motorsports Fabrication

    •    Performance fabrication for track and competition vehicles. Roll cages, chassis reinforcement, custom suspension geometry, exhaust systems, and specialty components built to perform under the demands of motorsport. We understand that in racing, the quality of the fabrication directly affects the outcome.

  3. Agricultural & Farm Equipment Parts

    •   Farm equipment breaks. Replacement parts are sometimes discontinued, back-ordered, or simply do not exist for older machines. We reverse engineer broken or worn components, fabricate replacements, and get your equipment back to work. We have done it before and we can do it for you.

  4. Custom Indoor Furniture

    •    Steel and metal furniture built to your exact dimensions and design. Coffee tables, dining tables, shelving, bed frames, desks, and statement pieces that combine structural integrity with genuine aesthetic consideration. Built to live in your home for decades.

  5. Custom Outdoor Furniture

    •    Outdoor furniture that actually holds up. Patio tables, benches, planters, fire pit surrounds, pergola components, and exterior structures fabricated from weather-appropriate materials and finished to withstand California's coastal and inland conditions without deteriorating.

  6. Art & Sculptural Metalwork

    •    For artists, designers, and property owners who want a metal piece that makes a statement. We work with creative clients to bring sculptural and artistic concepts to life — from large-scale outdoor installations to detailed decorative pieces. We bring the fabrication skill. You bring the vision.

  7. Tools & Shop Equipment

    •    Custom shop tooling, workbenches, tool storage, lifting fixtures, welding tables, and specialty equipment built for trades professionals and serious hobbyists. If you need something built that makes your work easier or your shop more functional, we can build it.

  8. Brackets, Mounts & Custom Hardware

    •    The unglamorous work that makes everything else function. Custom brackets, mounting plates, weld-on tabs, structural gussets, and specialty hardware that does not exist in any catalog. Small in size, critical in function. We take these jobs as seriously as any other.

  9. Reverse Engineering & Part Replication

    •    If you have a broken, worn, or discontinued part that you need replicated, we can work from the original piece to reproduce it. We assess why the original failed, and where appropriate, we build the replacement to a higher standard so the same failure does not happen again.

  10. One-of-a-Kind Builds

    •    The jobs that defy categorization. The things nobody has asked a fabricator to build before. The solutions to problems that do not have a product on the market. If it involves metal and you need it built, call us and describe it. The answer is probably yes.

HOW WE WORK WITH YOU

We Are a Partner, Not Just a Shop

The best custom projects we have ever built started with a real conversation. Not just a quote request — an actual back-and-forth about what the customer needs, what they are imagining, and what the metal can realistically do.

We work with customers at every level of certainty. Some people come to us with a fully developed plan and just need a skilled fabricator to execute it. Others come with a problem and no idea how to solve it. Both are welcome. So is everything in between.

What you will always get from us is honesty. If your budget does not match your scope, we will tell you directly and help you figure out what is achievable within your means. If your design has a problem we can foresee, we raise it before the metal gets cut. If we think there is a better way to achieve what you are after, we will suggest it — and then let you decide.

We do not take on jobs where the customer is uncertain about what they want to achieve or not yet in a position to move forward. Not because we are unwilling to help — but because a project without a clear direction wastes your time and ours, and the result is never as good as it should be. When you are ready, we are ready.

BUILT FROM THE RIGHT METAL FOR THE JOB

We Work Across the Full Range of Metals & Alloys

Every custom project calls for a different material. We work with the full spectrum — from common structural metals to high-performance alloys — and we will help you choose the right one for your application, environment, and budget.

Steel

  • Strong, versatile, and the most widely used material across custom fabrication projects of all types.

Aluminum

  • Lightweight and corrosion-resistant. Ideal for automotive, outdoor, and weight-sensitive applications.

Stainless Steel

  • Clean, corrosion-resistant, and contemporary. Used in food-grade, marine, architectural, and high-visibility applications.

Wrought Iron

  • Classic and highly workable. A natural choice for decorative, artistic, and architectural custom projects.

Cor-Ten Weathering Steel

  • Raw, industrial, and self-protecting. Ideal for outdoor sculptural and architectural builds.

Chromoly Steel

  • A high-strength chromium-molybdenum alloy widely used in motorsports, roll cage fabrication, and structural applications where strength-to-weight ratio matters.

Nickel Alloys

  • High heat and corrosion resistance for industrial and specialty applications.

Titanium

  • Exceptional strength-to-weight ratio for performance-critical and exotic builds.

Exotic & Specialty Alloys

  • If your project calls for a material not listed here, contact us. If it can be fabricated, we will find a way to work with it.

How It Works

How a Custom Project Comes to Life

Step 1 Tell Us What You Need

  •    Call us or come in and describe the project. What it is, what it needs to do, what you have to start from, and what your budget looks like. We ask questions. You answer them. By the end of the conversation we both understand the scope.

Step 2 Design & Scope Confirmation

  •    We work through the design with you — whether that means reviewing your drawings, sketching something out together, or reverse engineering a reference piece. We confirm every critical dimension, material choice, and feature before anything gets cut. If we have suggestions that could improve the build, this is where we share them.

Step 3 Fabrication

  •    Your project is built in our shop to the agreed specifications with the same precision and care we bring to every job. We keep you informed if anything comes up during the build that warrants a conversation.

Step 4 Delivery & Review

  •    We walk through the finished piece with you. If anything needs adjustment, we address it. We do not call a job done until you are satisfied with what you are taking home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need To Know About Custom Metal Projects

  1. What counts as a custom project?

    •    If it does not fit neatly into a standard service category — gates, railings, structural steel — it is probably a custom project. Automotive parts, farm equipment, furniture, trailers, tools, art pieces, one-off brackets, reverse engineered components — if it involves metal and you need it built, it qualifies.

  2. Do you have a minimum project size?

    •    No! We take on small and large custom jobs equally. A single bracket gets the same attention as a full trailer conversion. The size of the job does not determine the quality of the work.

  3. What do I need to bring you to get started?

    •    Whatever you have. Professional drawings, rough sketches, a broken part you need replicated, a photo of something similar to what you want, or just a description of the problem you need solved. We will figure out the rest together during the consultation.

  4. Can you reverse engineer a part that is no longer manufactured?

    •    Yes! If you have the original part — or even just a portion of it — we can assess it, understand its function, and fabricate a replacement. Where possible we identify why the original failed and build the replacement to a higher standard.

  5. Can you build something if I only have a rough idea?

    •    Yes, as long as you are clear on what you need it to do and ready to move forward. We work from rough ideas regularly. What we ask is that you have a genuine sense of your goal and are in a position to commit to the project — vague direction leads to results that do not fully satisfy anyone.

  6. Do you work on vehicles and race cars?

    •   Of Course! Custom automotive fabrication is one of our core custom project capabilities. Brackets, mounts, roll cage components, chassis work, specialty parts — if it goes on a vehicle and needs to be fabricated from metal, we can build it.

  7. Can you build custom metal furniture?

    •    Absolutely! Indoor and outdoor. Tables, benches, shelving, bed frames, fire pit surrounds, patio furniture, and statement pieces. We work with you on dimensions, design, and finish to build furniture that is exactly what you envisioned.

  8. What if my budget does not match my scope?

    •    We will tell you directly and have an honest conversation about what is achievable within your budget. Sometimes that means scaling the project back. Sometimes it means phasing the build. We would rather have that conversation upfront than take your money and deliver something that falls short of your expectations.

HAVE SOMETHING UNUSUAL IN MIND?

     Tell Us About It!

There is no such thing as a project too strange, too specific, or too one-of-a-kind for us to at least have a conversation about. Give us a call, describe what you are trying to build, and let us tell you what we can do.
